Circulation Services Evening Supervisor

Full Time Charlotte, NC, US Salary Range: $45,000.00 To $50,000.00 Annually

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Circulation Services Evening Supervisor will be responsible for managing all the daily circulation activities in the evenings which includes routine check of the library facility, enforcing library policies, assisting in maintaining the security of library resources, and supervising student workers, and library assistants. The Circulation Services Evening Supervisor will also assist in serving on committees, helping with marketing the library, reporting any library repairs or maintenance services while performing customer service duties and other assigned library duties. Reports to the Director of Library Services.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manage the Center of Information Desk (Circulation activities) and library services in the evenings. Assist with training and supervising library assistants, student workers, and interns. Collaborates with the Collection Development and Metadata Librarian to manage the acquisition process for new books, audiovisual materials, and standing orders, including searching bibliographic databases, and receiving library materials. Complete physical processing of new books, gift books, media materials, and library equipment (i.e., labeling, stripping, stamping, applying barcodes). Receive and process incoming acquisitions mail and shipments to verify the accuracy of order fulfillment. Prepare and maintain records relative to book acquisition activities. Assist in library outreach services and promotions. Enforce and assist users in understanding library policies and procedures. Assistusers in finding general reference resources and using library computers. Perform closing duties such as securing and locking up the library and door counts. Maintain circulation library statistics and other statistics relative to evening services. Maintain online chat/messaging by answering or filtering questions to the library.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist in placing items on reserves, re-shelving books, and library inventory. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the demands of library services.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with at least 2 yearsofexperience directly related to theprimary duties of the position. Candidate must have knowledge and understanding in providing library services or customer services in a diverse environment. Candidate must have good technology skills, writing skills, and communication skills. Preferacandidate who has worked with college students,isfamiliar with library services and procedures, and has web design experience. Managerial experience is required. Will consider candidates with a combination of work experience and education. Finalists for this position are subject to a background check.
