About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) to play a pivotal role in the development of autonomous spacecraft. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the GNC function within the engineering division, with a focus on the architecture, performance, and delivery of flight-critical control systems. This includes defining and leading the development of algorithms for autonomous rendezvous, proximity operations, and precision maneuvering in challenging environments. The role is highly technical, requiring deep expertise in control theory, estimation, and orbital mechanics, as well as a proven track record in delivering flight-proven systems and leading high-performing engineering teams. Key responsibilities for the Head of GNC include owning the end-to-end GNC architecture, driving the technical strategy for autonomy-enabled control systems, and overseeing the design, implementation, and validation of GNC algorithms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, be proficient in Python and C++, and have experience in integrating algorithms into embedded flight software. Additionally, the role involves leading hardware-in-the-loop and flight test campaigns, recruiting and developing a high-caliber GNC team, and acting as the technical authority for GNC within the company. A strong educational background in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with at least 10 years of experience in spacecraft, launch vehicle, or autonomous system GNC, is required.
