Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by utilizing knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment. This role supports patients in transitioning through their healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions based on the state Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the staff. Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards. Identify and prioritize patient and family needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care. Modify plans to meet clinical outcomes. Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Support evidence-based practice changes through research utilization. Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Caring Practices: Create a compassionate, supportive, and safe environment for patients and families. Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Manage both emotional and physical pain promoting comfort and healing. Response to Diversity: Recognize and incorporate the unique differences of patients and families into care plans. Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserve and protect patient confidentiality and rights.
