Environmental Quality Laboratory DirectorThe position will be based in MDEQ's Field Services Division Laboratory located in Pearl, MS. The position will serve as the FSD Laboratory Director and will plan, direct, and manage the activities of the FSD Laboratory which includes environmental monitoring, chemical and biological laboratory operations, fish kill responses, and biological sampling; Manage Laboratory personnel and budget; Collaborate with MDEQ programs to identify their monitoring and technical support needs; Assist in policy development; Provide chemical and biological expertise to the agency.Knowledge of EPA environmental sampling methods and field-testing procedures. Knowledge of EPA environmental sample analysis methods pertaining to Wet Chemistry, Microbiology, Metals, and Organic parameters. General knowledge of data flow within a laboratory from sample collection to quality control validation.Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 7-9 years of experience.
