Financial Analyst III

Position Overview The City of Austin manages over $4 billion across multiple fixed‑income investment portfolios. This position plays a key role in supporting the City’s investment strategy and financial stewardship responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Maintain the Portfolio Management System daily for the City’s $4.0 billion fixed income portfolio. Document and verify all direct investment trades, interest payments, call, maturities, money markets, and Local Government Investment Pool transactions. Investment Reporting and Accounting – Prepare investment accounting entries and standard reports for all funds – which requires meeting monthly deadlines. Investment Trading – Facilitate daily investment trading with the City’s Custodian by recording trades in on-line platform, monitoring trade settlement, and coordinating and resolving any potential trade issues with the custodian and/or City’s broker/dealers. Assist with Investment market research on investments. Minimum Qualifications Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to Finance, Accounting, or Economics, plus four (4) years of experience in a related field. Graduation with a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or Public Administration or other relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience. A five (5) year accounting (MAcy) degree or CPA designation may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of fixed income accounting Knowledge of PFIA Texas Government Code 2256 Experience in governmental fund accounting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Preferred certifications: CPA, CTP Ability to travel to more than one work location #J-18808-Ljbffr
