AVP Underwriting Director- Energy Casualty

Zurich is currently looking to hire an Energy Casualty Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director to join the team in Houston, TX. Responsibilities Serve as a customer industry advocate focused on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end‑to‑end solution for their insurance needs. Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing. Leverage risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale. Handle market‑facing and production activities within the Energy Casualty division. Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules. Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments. Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter (Energy Casualty) High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Basic Qualifications – AVP, UW Director (Energy Casualty) High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Experience with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Technical knowledge of Commercial Casualty Underwriting. Established broker relationships (Retail, select brokers) in the Houston region. Sales execution mindset. Creative problem‑solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. The combined salary range for this position is $105,300.00 – $227,900.00. Executive Underwriter: $105,300.00 – $172,400.00 with a Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility of 30%. AVP Underwriting Director: $139,200.00 – $227,900.00 with a Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility of 40%.
