Government Account Manager - Great Plains (MN/ND/SD/IA/KS)

Abbott seeks a Government Account Manager for its Diabetes Care Division to sell glucose monitoring products across the Great Plains region. The role involves developing business with federal healthcare facilities, VA medical centers, and government payors while managing territory strategy and exceeding sales targets.

Responsibilities

Sell Abbott Diabetes Care products to regional government facilities and payors; drive new business development and market share growth
Manage territory strategy, conduct weekly customer visits, and deliver training and implementation support
Prepare forecasts, customer business plans, and conduct semi-annual account reviews
Oversee budget allocation and assess contracting opportunities for profitability impact
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Science Liaisons, and support teams on account-specific solutions

Requirements

Four-year degree in Business, Communications, Health Sciences, or equivalent experience
3–5 years of proven sales track record at Abbott or equivalent; 4+ years if external candidate
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and high computer literacy
Prior sales experience with VA, DoD, or Indian Health programs preferred
Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation abilities
Self-motivation, problem-solving capability, and strong work ethic
