To provide high-quality ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels for adult patients, as well as technical assistance with stress testing. Performs high-quality two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels, identifying EKG abnormalities and/or arrhythmias. Utilizes knowledge of age-specific needs in daily duties. Understands accompanying imaging and Doppler techniques and when to apply these methods for clinical questions. Demonstrates M-Mode techniques for measuring cardiac dimensions at precise times in the cardiac cycle. Estimates the severity of valvular insufficiencies using color flow Doppler mapping. Assesses blood flow conditions, including increased velocities and stenosis. Uses contrast echocardiography when 2D and color flow images are suboptimal. Evaluates left and right ventricular functions and documents wall motion abnormalities. Recognizes various heart malformations and potential outcomes of surgical procedures. Completes studies per updated protocols and presents additional views or measurements when necessary. Correlates clinical history with exams and consults with cardiologists as needed. Documents and manages patient records using computerized systems. Prepares and assists patients for dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms. Assists cardiologists in performing transesophageal echocardiograms. Communicates results to cardiologists and addresses questions or concerns promptly. Maintains correlation studies and statistics monthly. Demonstrates troubleshooting abilities for equipment failures. Participates in regional mobile services and callback rotation. Assists in conducting cardiolite and echocardiography stress testing. Documents procedures accurately. Assesses patients' ability to undergo testing thoroughly. Interprets physicians' orders with clarity. Provides comprehensive assessments in crisis situations and notifies physicians as necessary. Displays proficiency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias. Completes quarterly competency assessments in stress lab, holter monitoring, and event monitoring. Uses a segmental approach in obtaining images from multiple echocardiographic windows and operates ultrasound equipment effectively. Selects appropriate transducers for optimal resolution and penetration. Obtains and documents relevant patient history and clinical data for diagnostics. Demonstrates proficiency in pediatric echocardiograms, ensuring quality imaging and patient care.
