Position: Building RN Hours: 6 hours and 45 min, Monday through Friday Pay Rate: starting pay is $31.85 per hour This position is based at Wildwood Elementary. Salary and benefits are part of the Para Master Agreement. Qualifications: Must have current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in MN. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Certification in Public Health in MN preferred. Experience in one of the following settings: Public Health, Community Health, Pediatrics or School Health.

Job Summary

This position is for the health office Building RN at Wildwood Elementary. Included within this role is the management of students' chronic & acute health conditions while at school; first aid for acute injuries; assisting with screenings and assessments for special services and per referral; and promoting health and wellness within the Mahtomedi School community.

Essential Duties

Works collaboratively with health care providers, students, parents, district nurse, school district staff, and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students. Assists in the maintenance of a comprehensive school health program. Performs nursing assessment for students who are ill or injured and provides first aid, nursing care, intervention, referrals, and exclusions and readmission of students in connection with certain infectious and contagious diseases for those students. Maintains accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and Board of Education policies. Performs the interventions described in individual health care plans (ICHP) Reports to parents, district nurse, principal, healthcare providers, and others as needed to meet student health needs. Provides health education to students as requested. Notifies and takes direction from the district nurse regarding student injury and illness that must be reported to other agencies in accordance with Board policy as necessary. Uses medical equipment to provide health care to students/staff, including, but not limited to, blood glucose monitor, stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, audiometers. Adheres to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including requirements set forth in federal and state law, and Occupational Safety and Health regulations. Implements Board Policy regarding Blood Borne Pathogens and other Board policies regarding the medical or health care of employees and students. Prompt and reliable attendance. Performs other related tasks as assigned by district nurse, building principal, or other administrators. Participate in employer mandated training and retraining programs.
