FLEET SUPERVISOR

Job Description

The Fleet Operations Supervisor ensures seamless transportation operations across all shifts, providing leadership and support to drivers, the distribution center, and the Store Support Center (SSC). This role is responsible for dispatching, store communications, driver safety and compliance, and promoting a culture of operational excellence and safety.

Job Responsibility
• Oversees daily and after-hours transportation operations, including dispatch, store deliveries, and reverse logistics. (50%)
• Ensures FMCSA and DOT compliance, driver safety, and legal operations. (5%)
• Build strong relationships with drivers through regular communication and quarterly face-to-face meetings. (5%)
• Manages driver training, retention, time at home, load optimization, equipment usage, and performance metrics (e.g., idle reduction, mpg improvement). (10%)
• Responds to driver emergencies, resolves load issues (e.g., overweight, paperwork), and maintains nightly issue logs. (10%)
• Monitors satellite communications, reports late deliveries, and plans swaps as needed. (10%)
• Completes required reports and maintains effective use of the driver management system. (10%)

Job Qualifications
• Proven leadership in transportation operations.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT regulations, and CSA program.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills.
• Understanding of driver logs, hours of service, and vehicle safety inspections.
• Proficient in transportation optimization software and MS Office.
• Ability to function in a high-stress environment.
• Knowledge of US geography.

Working Conditions
• 10% travel is required.

Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree in business or Logistics preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years in transportation operations for a retailer, manufacturing company, major carrier, or logistics company.
• Experience managing 20-40+ drivers.
• On-site driver management experience preferred.
• Experience with satellite dispatch systems (McLeod, TMW, Telogis, Dispatch Tracks, AS400.)

License/Certification Required
Current CDL preferred and must be maintained.
