Accounting Manager

A global financial institution is looking for a Manager to join its finance team. You’d own the accounting for a portfolio of subsidiaries across the business, sitting close to senior finance leadership on a small team with very little hierarchy. The firm is actively putting money into automation and AI across accounting and reporting, and they want someone who sees a manual process and wants to fix it.
What you’ll be doing
- Running month-end for your entities, from journal entries and recs to accruals and intercompany
- Substantiating balance sheets and pressure testing accruals, and flagging anything unusual before it becomes a problem
- Handling quarterly regulatory reporting and monitoring capital
- Supporting annual statutory and U.S. GAAP audits, including the footnote disclosures
- Building quarterly financials for internal teams and outside investors
- Explaining the numbers: monthly and quarterly balance sheet and P&L variance commentary
- Partnering with accounting, regulatory, tax, and treasury teams to get everything booked right
- Finding ways to automate and streamline, and partnering with IT on system changes
- Picking up ad hoc projects as they land
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 4 to 6 years of experience, ideally Big Four audit with financial services clients, or legal entity control or corporate accounting at a bank or asset manager
- CPA preferred, CPA candidates considered
- Experience with Workiva, Oracle, Tableau, or Alteryx a plus
- Hands-on use of AI tools or automation to create efficiencies is a big plus
