Team Lead, Underwriting Operations

We are seeking a team lead with strong technical expertise in primary casualty supporting commercial automobile, general liability, and workers compensation and proven leadership capabilities. This role is responsible for managing a team of underwriting support staff and driving consistent, high-quality service delivery. The team lead will ensure clarity and adherence to internal processes and procedures, identify and implement efficiency opportunities, and maintain strong alignment with underwriting partners. This role is accountable for achieving service delivery standards across timeliness, productivity, and quality, while also contributing directly to accounting support as needed.

Essential responsibilities include providing clear day-to-day direction to staff, overseeing development, training, and cross training of employees, supporting performance evaluations, establishing unit and individual goals in concert with operations leadership, assisting in interviewing and hiring new employees for the department, ensuring adherence to established workflows and internal procedures, delivering work in line with defined service standards, tracking and reporting weekly/monthly production, keeping department management informed of status and progress in the unit, planning and prioritizing work to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks, ensuring compliance and timely action plans for internal and external audit and peer review findings, maintaining open communication with internal and external stakeholders to foster partnerships, adapting effectively to changes in processes, priorities, and operating environment, and attending meetings on behalf of leadership and communicating outcomes, issues, and action items.

We're looking for someone who has a college degree or equivalent experience with advanced insurance study preferred, previous experience in P&C insurance business, relevant experience in commercial P&C insurance with high rating, coding, and underwriting support skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, proactive leadership with time management, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision.
