divh2Accounting Specialist/h2pThe role of Accounting Specialist will report to the Controller. The Accounting Department is responsible for providing accurate, relevant, and timely information to end users across the organization to achieve data-driven decisions and high levels of financial performance at Indiana Members Credit Union./ppEssential functions:/pulliBe responsible for performing assigned accounting functions, including daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations./liliPreparing invoices to be paid including coding, sending for approval and preparing payment. Following up on vendor issues as needed./liliReview automatic general ledger entries and process any manual entries as needed./liliMonitor and reconcile assigned general ledgers to ensure accuracy./liliConduct research and be able to resolve branch general ledger issues./liliAssist in the preparation of month-end reporting./liliAssist in the implementation of new accounting standards, regulatory changes impacting the accounting and finance areas, and ongoing process improvements with a high emphasis on identifying and implementing opportunities for automation./liliPrepare variance financial reports and analysis to key stakeholders with a high degree of accuracy./liliCoordinate and assist with other departments as needed to accomplish projects and understand the impact on the financial statements./liliCoordinate and assist, from an accounting perspective, with the roll out of new products, services, or offerings and the impact on the financial statements and accounting and finance functions./liliMaintain a working knowledge of other accounting tasks to provide cross functional support and serve as a backup when needed./liliMaintain a working knowledge of IMCU daily Federal Reserve and ACH functions./liliEstablish working knowledge of various daily Accounting tasks./liliMaintains in depth knowledge of all IMCU products and services./liliBuild trust throughout the organization by collaborating with the accounting and finance teams and being personally accountable for providing accurate, relevant and timely financial information./liliContinue to develop knowledge of industry practices, products, and professional growth./liliParticipate in appropriate learning opportunities to maintain expertise./liliHelp on prioritization, tasks, and department project management to ensure departmental initiatives are completed efficiently and effectively./li/ulpRequired education and experience:/pulliBachelors degree required./liliProficient in Microsoft Excel./liliFinancial Institution knowledge preferred./liliAbility to work with all levels of credit union staff./liliAble to work independently and communicate effectively./liliDemonstrate a proficient use of technology tools and possess knowledge of basic system navigation skills./li/ul/div
