Responsibilities

Manages follow-up for surveillance of breast cancer patients. Orders required diagnostic testing and communicates results. Collaborates with physician to determine future treatment plan. Returns patients calls and discuss results with patients. Evaluates patients with abnormal mammograms and breast ultrasounds sent from the mammogram department. See new and follow up patients in clinic. Ensures patient confidentiality. Initiates referrals to other physicians and agencies. Assists with navigation of high risk breast cancer patients. Provides timely, courteous, and efficacious care to patients. Documents in the Electronic Medical Record. Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes treatments and medications in accordance with Alabama Physician Assistant scope of practice. Refers patients to attending physicians for consultation or assistance when needed. Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team in person and via telephone. Maintains patient and medical records and completes charge documents and code records for billing purposes (collections for services rendered are retained by the practice). Updates and maintains electronic health records. Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements. Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution and completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required OR Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program and licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within two months of employment. Required CRNP - Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the state of Alabama Required licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse Required or PA - Physician Assistant license in the state of Alabama Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
