Quality Manager/Engineer Location: Houston, TX Job Description The jobholder is responsible for managing the Quality department activities and ensures that the products manufactured and delivered to customer are meeting the customer requirements, legal compliance and pre-determined quality requirements which were set by the company in line with the international standards. Maintain and improve the Quality Management System to ensure that the entity obtains and maintains proper management certification for all facilities, including, but not limited to API Q1 and ISO 9001. To also ensure that employees perform their tasks to the standards laid down and to ensure that raw materials used to manufacture the products are tested prior to use, measuring instruments used are calibrated and no item of production is passed QC OK unless it fully meets the specifications and quality standards set. Job Duties Ensures that all manufacturing procedures and applicable standards are adhered to at all times and that only approved Raw Materials are used so as to ensure acceptable end products quality. Ensures that all manufacturing procedures including testing & calibration and applicable standards are adhered during the manufacturing process at all times to ensure high quality of product. Conducts product failure investigation and root cause analysis to avoid recurrence. Ensures the resource requirements of the QC Department are met in order for the smooth performance of the department. Organizes and supervises the activities and work of a team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of QC activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliance manner. Ensures that all QC Engineer, QC Supervisors, Lab Technicians and QC Inspectors are trained and motivated to perform their roles to the levels of excellence set so as to realize quality products. Ensures that the process quality control activities are in compliance with internal and client specification requirements so as to comply with the required control and performance standards. Ensures that manufactured or trading good items are inspected / tested and released so as to ensure that compliance to quality standards prior to delivery. Ensures that nonconforming manufactured items properly highlighted to responsible departments so corrective action is immediately initiated at all levels to ensure compliance and to minimize loss. Ensures that nonconforming purchased materials and products are properly highlighted and communicated to the purchase department to ensure proper communication to the supplier to ensure no loss occurs to the company. Maintain the quality management system. Develop quality system processes, procedures and work instructions. Lead QMS Corrective Action and Preventive Action teams, as required. Prepare and maintain quality reports and maintain quality communication boards. Additional Responsibilities Act as Management Representative (MR) for external audits of accreditation bodies and client representatives. Checks and approves the Quality Assurance Procedures related to Quality Control department in focus of continual improvement, compliance to international standards/codes and local legislative requirements as applicable. Ensures that all the Quality Control Procedures are maintained up to date and implemented. Maintains full traceability records of all raw materials, and finished goods in order to ensure compliance to the company’s quality standards and requirements and ensures that these records easily retrievable. Checks and approves all projects related Quality Control Procedures, ITPs, and Material Pre-Qualification Test Plans. Ensures that the project specific Manufacturing Record Books are compiled, reviewed, and submitted to project department on a timely matter. Ensures that all the necessary Plant/Project related product qualification tests are conducted and reported in line with the requirements. Support the QC Engineer to perform the product qualification tests. Monitor the financial performance of the QC section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon. Participate and lead in the internal and external audits. Perform process audits and lead training to address issues found. Ensures that the non-conformity reports are closed out with appropriate corrective actions to prevent the recurrence. Ensures that training programs are generated for QC staffs and ensure that individual assessment are regularly undertaken and documented so as to ensure compliance to requirements and to provide a platform for continuous improvement of the QMS. Communicates the requirement of operational procedures and work instructions to QC staffs and monitors their adherence so that work is conducted in a controlled manner. Ensures that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed. Job Requirements Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology (4 years course) IRCA certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Preferred Experience Minimum experience of 10 years Strong knowledge and experience in fibreglass applications Job-Specific Skills Quality Control management skills Thorough knowledge in ISO 9001 Quality Management System Internal auditing skills Detailed knowledge of Fibreglass Raw Materials, manufacturing processes, and product QC procedures Raw material & finished product testing experience. Detailed knowledge on International Standards related to the fiberglass products Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Ability to undertake detailed inspections Knowledge of the laboratory testing requirements and calibration of Inspection equipment English fluency & Computer literacy Firm, strict and unbiased Auditor Data analysis expertise Good report writer Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
