Staff Attorney

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its legal team and provide counsel across employment, compliance, governance, contracts, and litigation matters. This opportunity offers significant exposure to executive leadership and a broad range of in-house legal responsibilities.

Compensation

• 100-150K (DOE)

Schedule

• Onsite during the first 30-60 days for training and onboarding
• Hybrid schedule available thereafter (approximately one day per week in office)

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and counsel to organizational leadership
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements
• Assist with employment and employee relations matters
• Support corporate governance and compliance initiatives
• Manage relationships with outside counsel
• Oversee and assist with litigation strategy and case management
• Conduct legal research and prepare reports for leadership
• Review policies and procedures for legal compliance
• Partner with various departments on risk management and operational matters
• Supervise legal support staff as needed

Qualifications

• Active attorney license, preferably in California
• Open to newly licensed attorneys, junior attorneys, and experienced counsel
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience in employment law, litigation, compliance, contracts, corporate governance, or nonprofit law is a plus
• Ability to work directly with executive leadership and multiple stakeholders
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
