Social Work Manager (Forensics)

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203. As the Social Work Manager, working under limited supervision, you will perform diversified social work duties for a complex caseload, consisting of patients with multiple psycho-social problems including criminal charges. These duties include completing assessments, group and individual treatment, discharge planning, and related duties. Services are provided to an inpatient population, 18 years of age and older. Under limited supervision and general administrative guidance, from the Director of Social Work or designee, you will direct the activities of subordinates. Responsibilities for the Social Work Manager Include: Will meet with supervisees as needed to review all aspects of essential job duties. In consultation with the director of Social Work, you will oversee time and attendance, competency, and EPMS reviews, education and training to ensure compliance with policies/procedures and standards of practice for assigned subordinates. Provide regular administrative and clinical supervision to staff. This is accomplished by the following:

  1. Performance Appraisals, Planning Stages and Competency Assessments will be completed according to established agency policy.
  2. EPMS: all aspects of essential job duties and performance will be reviewed regularly in supervision with employees.
  3. Individual supervision held monthly; maintain supervision notes of each session.
  4. Review all leave slips and work schedules for subordinates.
Maintain a caseload of patients requiring intensive psychiatric treatment by completing all documentation and clinical services related to the caseload assigned to include case management, group, individual, and family counseling/treatment, treatment planning, short-term interventions as needed, and discharge planning. Participate in discharge planning activities and assume the major role for implementation of referrals, scheduling of appointments and the sharing of recommendations with community agencies and programs to ensure continuity of care. This includes alternative care placements or facilitation with other resources such as establishing financial platforms and other related matters. Perform case coordination for multi-disciplinary treatment team processes. Coordinate with treatment team, families, patients and other collateral sources and monitor patient's treatment and provide information for treatment team to ensure patient's needs are being met. Responsible for preparation of thorough and accurate Psychosocial Assessments and Forensic Review Board reports for assigned patients recommended for discharge. Create Community Disposition/Discharge Plan for patients approved for discharge, and other Clinical Assessments (including Report for Designated Examiner as assigned) as needed to facilitate treatment success and transition to the community. Reports are legible and professionally written with accurate punctation and grammar. You will attend core competency training (PMAB, Infection Control, Patient Rights, HIPPA, etc.) and all required trainings as assigned. Will attend monthly Social Work meetings and maintain Social Work Licensure. Will maintain knowledge and enforce policies and procedures. Serve as a field instructor or preceptor for students completing their field placement at Bryan Psychiatric Hospital. Will be responsible for completing appropriate paperwork as needed for the student and ensuring the student meets all educational/contractual requirements. Provide hazardous weather coverage and weekend coverage as required. A master's degree from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, LMSW-SC Board of Social Work Examiner's and one (1) year of practice experience at this level. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Post hire, employees must: Be capable of delivering social work services to diverse and highly vulnerable populations which presents with multiple psycho-social problems, with little supervisions of the technical aspect of Social Work. Have excellent professional judgement and must be willing to participate in training. Have thorough knowledge of Federal and State laws pertaining to social services programs and CSF/CR issues. Be licensed by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners at the LMSW or LISW within one (1) year of employment. Have computer knowledge and skills sufficient to complete essential job duties in an effective manner.
