Responsible for facilities, safety, production operations, and shipping functions. Recommends improvements in manufacturing methods. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for ensuring company safety program is in place and compliance with all State and Federal, Health and Safety Regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of State and Federal Health and Safety Regulations plans for the sites; participate in SHSR monthly meetings & Toolbox talks and provide leadership and coaching to employees to ensure SHSR plans and standards are met, and plant operations are managed safely. Promptly report, investigate, and mitigate all unsafe working conditions and incidents. Manage operations to ensure that adequate and efficient human, capital, material, and information resources are available to meet production, delivery schedule, and customer requirements. Ensure the manufacturing organization meets or exceeds estimated cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Maintain quality, on‑time delivery, and cost results for all products manufactured in the plant and implement action plans to address gaps. Manage site KPIs & Delivery In Full On Time (DIFOT). Support and participate in Lean Six Sigma initiatives, e.g., OEE, TPM, 5S, visual manufacturing. Facilitate and coordinate process improvements using lean principles to provide competitive manufacturing advantages. Promote a Continuous Improvement Culture. Develop, establish and communicate performance targets and measurements for the manufacturing team. Keep Operations Manager and Human Resources informed about performance issues, plans, and progress in meeting goals. Complete special assignments as directed. Ensure sufficient, trained resources are available to meet business demands. Establish practices for hiring, training, rewarding, disciplining, and correcting personnel in the departments under their direction. Work closely with production control and maintenance departments to ensure equipment is kept in good order, meets equipment uptime targets, and undergoes regular inspections. Ensure products are produced to specification and quality standards, in accordance with delivery requirements and cost estimates. Manage and assist in coordinating effort between various plant departments and the support group associated with the plant. Identify capital needs and oversee capital projects in the area of responsibility. Authorize expenditures within area of responsibility. Develop short and long‑range operating objectives, organizational structures, and staffing requirements for the manufacturing team. Communicate performance targets for the plant to the team. Identify potential employees with the required competencies and assist manager to develop appropriate development plans for key roles. Conduct regular performance review discussions and coaching sessions with employees. Identify training needs and provide appropriate development. Ensure that team members are appropriately recognized and rewarded for their efforts. Ensure procedures are provided for and followed by all operations. Act as role model and provide strong, effective leadership to build a strong and committed team. Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Proven competency in Operations Supervisor roles including leadership, strong people management and communication skills. Formal training and experience with lean management tools and process improvement tools preferred. Demonstrated success in partnering with other managers and vendors to influence positive business management. A keen sense of detail and accuracy as well as the ability to see the larger picture. Superior organizational skills, especially the ability to prioritize. Demonstrated ability to consistently execute on required tasks/expectations. Demonstrated process improvement thinking required—think through and solve problems, generate new and creative solutions and articulate improvement ideas. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook required. Ability to learn and use newly introduced programs efficiently and accurately. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE College degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field preferred. A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in successfully managing medium to large-scale manufacturing operations, preferable in related industry. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Close Supervision: The incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions. Work is checked frequently. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require working outside of standard office hours, weekend, or evening work. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is necessary to perform the essential functions. Standing/Sitting: Remaining upright or seated in a stationary position for sustained periods. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers. Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly fingertips. Walking: Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or between work sites. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas verbally, including detailed or important instructions. Communicating: Expressing ideas and information accurately, in written or diagram form. Hearing: Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers such as using a mouse and typing. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force. Pulling: Using upper extremities to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm to operate a computer or similar machine. Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles. Kneeling/Crouching: Positioning oneself to look under or around equipment or areas of production. Stooping: Lifting or lowering a body to lift items off the floor. Reaching: Grabbing things from a distance above or from the side. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects from one position to another. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Visual acuity: Close and distance vision requirements including color vision and peripheral vision. Weather conditions: Work occurs inside and outside; moderate to loud noise in production and quiet conditions in office.
