Design Engineer

We’re partnering with an established manufacturer of specialized truck-mounted equipment seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys practical design work, collaborating with manufacturing, and improving real-world products. What You’ll Do Design and modify mechanical assemblies and truck-mounted equipment using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Develop design improvements that enhance manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost. Support prototype builds, product testing, and engineering validation. Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues while working closely with production teams. Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, service, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle. Develop technical documentation, specifications, and engineering reports. Provide technical support for manufacturing and customer applications. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and design reviews. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or other Engineering specialty Approximately 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing, heavy equipment, fabricated products, trailers, vocational trucks, or similar industries. Experience with Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD required. Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials. General knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes. Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams. Preferred Experience Heavy equipment, vocational trucks, utility equipment, agricultural equipment, trailers, or custom fabricated products. Familiarity with 12V electrical systems and hydraulic plumbing. Hands‑on manufacturing or prototype support experience. Welding knowledge is a plus.
