JCW is recruiting for a well-established alternative investment firm is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function supporting its publicly traded REIT. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a controller ready to step into a larger leadership seat within a fast-moving, autonomous team. Reporting into senior finance leadership, the Controller will oversee a team of accounting professionals and carries strong cross-functional exposure, partnering regularly with investment, credit, and legal teams. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in Manhattan. What You'll Do: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for a publicly traded REIT Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals Coordinate accounting matters with related portfolio entities Serve as a key liaison across investment, credit, and legal functions Manage external audit relationship and ensure clean, well-documented processes Own regulatory and compliance reporting requirements, keeping timelines on track in a fast-paced environment What They're Looking For: 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting (Big 4 or top regional firm) A track record of moving from public accounting into a private-sector role, ideally within a bank, credit fund, or credit-focused REIT CPA required Prior team management experience and comfort operating with autonomy in a lean environment Strong communication skills, with regular interaction across senior stakeholders A proactive, organized, and control-minded approach to managing deadlines Haley Rizzo specializes in partnering with accounting & finance professionals at leading organizations nationwide.
