RN PREOP PACU PAT Full Time Austin, TX, US 5 days ago Requisition ID: 1872 About the Role The PAT/PreOp/PACU RN is responsible for handling inbound pre‑operative patients and ensuring high‑quality pre‑operative screening and post‑anesthetic care. Duties include guiding patients through perioperative processes, medication administration, and providing comfort and education. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Pre‑admission testing nurse tasks: oversee intake, initial physical assessment, patient interview to obtain medical history. Perform tests ordered by surgeons, such as EKG, and draw blood for lab work. Help patients understand the process, answer questions, discuss post‑surgical care plans. Manage patients’ admission processes to the pre‑operative department and ensure accurate identification wristband. Verify operative and informed consents, identify surgeon and procedure. Take and record vital statistics to ensure readiness for surgery. Initiate IVs and inform patients about the procedure and medical staff. Assess patients’ condition after surgery, monitor vitals, and log findings. Ensure all vitals are within normal range and maintain IVs. Develop individualized care plans and implement them. Monitor for condition changes and report to physicians. Initiate patient education programs on procedures and medications. Determine readiness to move patients to rooms and perform interventions during post‑operative emergencies. Record sedation levels, body temperature, manage blood and fluid transfusions, draw specimens. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the post‑operative space. Change bandages and dress surgical wounds. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current and active CPR certification. Current and valid nursing license in good standing with the State licensing board. 2‑3 years of experience in critical care nursing. Cognitive skills relevant to the position.
