Position Title: Bookkeeper Category : Classified Location: High School Reports to: Principal or Vice Principal SUMMARY: Performs a variety of general bookkeeping, record keeping, accounting functions, administrative and office clerical duties; and computes, classifies and records numerical data to keep sets of financial records complete,maintainsrecords specifically related to student attendance, and provides quality customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Keepsan accuraterecord of all receipts and disbursements Maintainsacomplete bookkeeping system for the school and all extra-curricular activities/sporting events Understanding electronic payments systems Assistswith keeping administration/staff advised of balances and deadlines for all orders and expenditures Keeps separate records for fundsallocatedto each department/account and records purchases made against each account Utilizes work processing equipment to prepare general correspondences, memorandums, reports, purchase orders, and other material from rough draft, copy marginal notes or verbal instruction Checks and reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness and conformance toestablishedstandards and procedures Makes arithmetical calculations; requisitions, supplies and material for office and office copy equipment Maintains filing system as required by building administrator Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and staff related information Reconciles monthly bank statements and purchase cards Picks up and drops off deposit bags from the bank, as requested by the building administrator(s) Complies withand supports school and District regulations and policies Attend faculty meetings asrequired Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance atinservicesor trainings Seekassistanceshould emergencies arise Represent the school district in a positive manner Know and follow school district policy and chain of command Perform other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonableaccommodationsmay be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GEDrequired Previousbookkeeper and/or secretarial experience preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of work processing,data bases, spreadsheets, and reports Knowledge of automated office equipment and efficient office procedures Strong telephone skills and ability to communicate effectively Works well with students, staff, and the public Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to work underpressuresand deadlines Maintain confidentiality of staff and students COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Abilityto read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Ability to read,analyzeand interpretgovernmentalregulations and legal documents. Ability towriteroutine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or thegeneral public. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred. PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Demonstrate sound judgment by takingappropriate actionsregardingquestionable findings or concerns. PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY SKILLS: Consistentlydemonstrateability to respond to changing situations in a flexible mannerin order tomeet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary;organizejob functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within establishedtime frame. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to conduct basic math functions, as well as manipulate formulas in spreadsheets. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsenseunderstanding to carry out instructionsfurnishedin written, oral and diagram form. Ability to defineproblemscollectsdata,establishfacts, anddrawvalid conclusions. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office), spreadsheets (Excel), database (Access), presentationsoftwareand accounting/financial software.
