MAG INSTRUMENT, INC., the manufacturer of the Mag-Lite ® flashlight, has an immediate opening for a self-motivated individual to work as a Purchasing Manager. We are looking for a highly skilled professional to join our growing and future oriented team located in Ontario, California.

Summary/Objective

The qualified candidate will be a self-motivated, hands-on individual with broad purchasing experience and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work alongside their team.

Essential Functions

Key attributes for this position are as follows:

• Manage overall purchasing strategies ensuring low cost of material
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
• Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
• Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
• Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
• Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
• Ensuring suppliers meet performance and contractual obligations and qualify new sources as appropriate.
• Ability to manage complex/changing projects and working under pressure to deliver results
• Develop and direct the activities within the department to provide leadership and communication in order to instill and sustain an effective and motivated team environment
• Positive can-do attitude
• Flexible and willing to accept input and constructive criticism

  Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Minimum of 5-10 years hands-on purchasing experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
• Prior, Recent Purchasing Management experience
• Strong professional negotiating skills
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)
• AS400 Experience a plus
