As part of Enstructure’s national network of 22 strategically located terminals, we support multimodal transportation, including ship, barge, truck, and rail, serving leading companies in energy, agriculture, food, manufacturing, construction, and public safety. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in New Haven, CT. This hands-on role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, forklifts, and pay haulers. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced port environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Perform equipment overhauls and component replacements. Maintain accurate service records and documentation. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies. Collaborate with team members to support operational efficiency. Mentor junior technicians and apprentices. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in hydraulic system repair. Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel engine maintenance (preferred). Valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check. Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ lbs, climb heavy equipment, bend, kneel, and work overhead. Preferred but Not Required Own basic mechanical tools. CDL. Certifications (Preferred but Not Required) Basic Automotive Tire Service (ATS) – Tire Industry Association (TIA): Covers tire mounting, balancing, puncture repair, and safety procedures for passenger and light truck tires. Certified Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) – TIA: Specialized training for servicing off-the-road (OTR) tires, including large equipment, safety protocols, and advanced repair techniques.
