Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Downey, CA. This role supports a manufacturing environment and is responsible for accurate weekly payroll processing for a nationwide employee population of up to 500+ employees, including union payroll. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while providing responsive support for payroll-related questions. Key Responsibilities Review, verify, and audit timesheets, hours worked, wage calculations, pay adjustments, and related payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies. Process weekly payroll, employee paychecks, earnings statements, deductions, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments. Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and process onboarding documentation for new hires. Assign employees in the Time and Labor module and ensure payroll data is properly prepared for payroll transfer. Respond to employee payroll questions regarding payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, deductions, and related payroll matters. Provide administrative support to HR functions related to benefits, hiring, payroll, and employee records. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $65,000 to $70,000 per year. Job type: Temp-to-hire. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Must be flexible and open to overtime as needed. Location: Downey, CA.
