Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly autonomous and technically proficient Accounting Specialist to take ownership of the full-cycle accounting operations and high-quality financial reporting for our organization. This is a critical individual contributor role that requires impeccable attention to detail, advanced technical skills, and the ability to drive process efficiency.

Key Areas of Accountability

The successful candidate will be the primary authority on our financial execution and compliance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all deliverables.

• Financial Close & Reporting: Own and execute the complete monthly and quarterly close cycles, ensuring efficiency and strict adherence to internal deadlines. Prepare detailed financial statements and conduct comprehensive variance analyses to interpret results for executive leadership.

• Audit & Tax Coordination: Serve as the internal lead for the annual external audit, managing the preparation of all complex audit work papers and coordinating documentation with external auditors and tax preparers (CPA firm).

• Compliance and Controls: Design, implement, and rigorously enforce robust internal control procedures and maintain strict compliance with GAAP . Oversee and execute all necessary supporting documentation for regulatory and information returns.

• General Ledger Integrity: Maintain and reconcile all critical general ledger accounts, including complex balance sheet items, investments, and cash accounts, ensuring the highest level of data accuracy.

• Process Optimization: Actively identify and implement improvements in accounting workflows and documentation. Leverage technology and advanced Excel modeling to enhance the speed and efficiency of the entire accounting function.

Qualifications and Expertise

We are looking for a highly independent performer with proven technical expertise in managing complex financial reporting environments.

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of progressive, hands-on professional accounting experience demonstrating expertise in full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation.

• Demonstrated experience managing or significantly contributing to the year-end external audit process.

Technical Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.

• CPA license or candidate is strongly preferred.

• Expert-level proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial modeling).

• Deep functional knowledge of a mid-tier or enterprise accounting software system.

• Advanced technical understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) .
