To provide speech language pathology services (evaluation, treatment plan development, treatment, and discharge planning) to patients in the acute care setting in accordance with facility policy, standards, and philosophy.

Duties:

• Conducts evaluations (language, articulation, voice and dysphagia), considering medical history, physician orders, patient capabilities, and patient expectations.
• Develops appropriate treatment plan consistent with assessment, diagnostic outcomes, while incorporating patient goals and focus on discharge planning.
• Implements treatment plan in accordance with methods, techniques, modalities, and procedures.
• Actively participates in committees and task forces as appropriate.
• Provides patient and family education in preparation for discharge.
• Meets documentation standards with patient charts.
• Charges accurately and appropriately for services rendered.
• Performs thorough and efficient chart review to prepare for patient care.
• Demonstrates positive and professional communication with interdisciplinary team members.
• Delivers services timely and cost effectively.
• Displays excellent customer service skills.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Assists other departments during staffing shortages.

Qualifications:

Education requirements: Master's Degree from an accredited SLP program.

Work experience requirements: Prefer 1 year experience in acute care setting but not required.

Required licenses/certifications/courses: Current SC license, Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP (CCC-SLP), BLS.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective interpersonal skills. Clinical competence in speech/language and dysphagia. Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessments by the facility.
