Salary Range: $160,000 – $190,000

\n

*Final salaries will be based on qualifications and experience and could exceed the ranges provided.*

\n

Bonus Eligibility: Annual performance-based bonus tied to company, department, and individual performance

\n

PTO: 23+ days annually

Position Summary

\n

Client is seeking an experienced, licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead its Survey & Mapping Practice from its Chantilly, VA headquarters . This senior leadership role will oversee survey operations, staff, project delivery, client relationships, and business development while driving quality, innovation, and operational growth.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of land surveying experience , proven leadership experience, strong technical and business skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead and oversee surveying and mapping operations, including department strategy, workload planning, staffing, and resource allocation.
\n
• Manage, mentor, and develop survey professionals, project managers, and field/office staff while supporting hiring and performance development.
\n
• Oversee project execution, budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables to ensure quality and profitability.
\n
• Build and maintain client relationships and support business development through proposals, scopes, estimates, RFQs/RFPs, and new opportunities.
\n
• Drive technical excellence, QA/QC, and innovation, including implementation of surveying technologies, software, and industry best practices.
\n
• Ensure regulatory, professional, and safety compliance while partnering with leadership on operational improvements and business growth.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• 8+ years of land surveying experience with a current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
\n
• Proven leadership experience managing survey teams, departments, projects, and operations.
\n
• Strong knowledge of land surveying, boundary, construction and topographic surveying, geospatial technologies, and current surveying software.
\n
• Experience with project budgets, financial performance, workload forecasting, and resource planning.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and business growth.
\n
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, client relationship, and team-building skills.
\n
