Job Description: 

Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clinton, IA is looking for a Lead Evening Dietary Cook to join our team! You'll be an important part of creating meals that residents look forward to while helping lead the dietary team during the evening shift.

What You'll Do: 

• Prepare and serve meals for residents while following regular and modified diet requirements. 
• Follow menus, recipes, and safe food handling procedures. 
• Use your cooking skills and creativity to improve food presentation, seasonings, garnishes, and overall dining experience. 
• Adjust recipes when needed to meet individual dietary restrictions and nutritional requirements. 
• Make sure food is prepared, stored, labeled, and served safely. 
• Keep the kitchen, equipment, dining areas, coolers, freezers, storage areas, utensils, and workspaces clean and inspection ready.
• Properly operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment. 
• Follow all safety, sanitation, chemical handling, and infection-control procedures. 
• Help keep the evening shift organized and running smoothly. 
• Step into a leadership role and oversee the department when the Dietary Director is unavailable. 
• Communicate with residents and team members professionally—even when the kitchen gets busy. 
• Protect resident privacy and confidential information. 

What We're Looking For: 

We're looking for someone who:  

• Has cooking or food service experience and enjoys working with food. 
• Can read and follow recipes and instructions. 
• Can adjust recipes and portions when dietary needs require it. 
• Is comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen. 
• Has good judgment and isn't afraid to take initiative. 
• Can step up and lead when needed. 
• Takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and doing things the right way. 
• Can remain calm and professional during challenging situations. 
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and resident privacy. 
• Can occasionally or frequently lift up to 40 lbs. 
• Can pass a background check and simple Physical. 
• At least 1 year of Supervisory food-service experience in a hospital, nursing facility, healthcare setting, or similar environment is preferred—but not required. We're willing to train the right person. 

Education: 

• High School Diploma/GED required 

Experience: 

• One (1) year of food experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary, will train the right candidate). 
• Entry Level (0-2 years)

The Details:

Pay: Starting at $17.00/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Full-Time

Shift: Afternoon/Evening, 1:30 PM–8:00 PM

Weekends: Every other weekend required
