Responsibilities Performs various breast imaging procedures with ionizing and non‑ionizing equipment, and may perform or assist in performing ultrasound guided or stereotactic breast biopsies. Complies with ACR imaging guidelines to produce optimum radiographs. Educates patients regarding their procedure and maintains a safe, comfortable, supportive environment for the patient throughout the exam. Communicates educational information to patients about breast cancer risks and breast imaging information. Participates in and is responsible for designated aspects of departmental and procedural quality improvement. Collects and documents patient information accurately and in a timely manner, and assists in patient follow‑up. Trains new and student mammography technologists to expected performance levels in breast imaging techniques and quality improvement. Identifies and assists in rectifying equipment problems. Inventories supplies. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a demanding environment. Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served. Demonstrated effective communication skills. Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies over breast imaging services, including quality control and documentation. Qualifications Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system, obtained within 30 days of hire. Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for Mammography, R.T. (M) (ARRT). Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Preferred Stereotactic breast biopsy experience. Three years of experience in breast imaging. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects such as medical equipment while providing patient care.
