Student Employment and HR Coordinator

About this position Augustana University invites applications for a Student Employment and Human Resources Coordinator. This position serves as a key member of the Human Resources team by coordinating the university's student employment program while supporting a broad range of HR operations. The coordinator serves as a primary resource for employees, supervisors, and student workers, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused employment processes from hire through separation. Responsibilities include the following: Coordinate the university's student employment program, serving as the primary resource for supervisors and student employees. Manage high-volume student and employee onboarding, employment documentation, I-9 compliance, background checks, and personnel records. Maintain HRIS data, employment records, employee portals, and HR reporting while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Respond to employee, supervisor, retiree, and student inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment processes. Partner with Payroll, Financial Aid, and campus departments to support employment transactions and student employment operations. Assist with recruitment activities, applicant tracking, employment changes, benefits administration, and payroll-related processes. Coordinate employee engagement and recognition programs, onboarding activities, HR communications, and departmental events. Support compliance initiatives, file audits, process improvements, and special projects that enhance HR operations and the employee experience. Qualifications: Three years of experience in an administrative, human resources, accounting, or related office environment. Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn HR information systems and technology. Experience in higher education or the nonprofit sector is preferred. Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
