General Manager - HVAC Operations & Business Growth

Location: Santa Fe, NM

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Summary

Pro-Tech Air Conditioning & Heating is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily business operations, improve company performance, and support continued growth. This role requires a strong understanding of both the HVAC industry and business operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams, improving processes, driving profitability, and building strong customer relationships. HVAC field experience is preferred, but this role is primarily focused on leadership, operational efficiency, financial performance, and company growth.

The General Manager will work closely with the owner and leadership team to oversee service, installation, customer experience, employee development, and overall business success.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Some evenings and weekends as needed

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the HVAC company, including service and installation departments
• Lead, coach, and develop field technicians and office staff
• Improve operational efficiency, scheduling, productivity, and profitability
• Monitor key business metrics including revenue, margins, labor efficiency, and customer satisfaction
• Support dispatching processes and ensure technicians have the resources needed to succeed
• Review estimates, invoices, warranty claims, and customer concerns
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships
• Develop processes and procedures to improve company performance
• Assist with recruiting, training, and employee retention
• Ensure quality standards are maintained across all service and installation work
• Partner with ownership on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and company goals

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of management or leadership experience, preferably within HVAC, construction, home services, or a related industry
• Strong business operations background with experience improving profitability and efficiency
• Understanding of HVAC service and installation operations
• Experience managing teams and developing employees
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities
• Ability to analyze business performance and make data-driven decisions
• Valid driver's license
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn company software systems

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC field experience or technical knowledge
• Experience managing HVAC service technicians and installers
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Familiarity with dispatching, scheduling, and service management software
• Experience in a growing small business environment
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate teams
