Boy Mentor — After-School Performing Arts Program Youth With A Purpose (YWAP)
Are you a performer, artist, or creative at heart who wants your talent to change a kid's life? YWAP is looking for a Boy Mentor to join our after-school program, where we use dance, music, acting, and theatre to help young boys build confidence, creativity, and character.
This isn't just a part-time gig — it's a chance to be the role model a kid remembers for the rest of their life. You'll lead hands-on sessions in the performing arts, and in the process, help boys develop the social and emotional skills that carry them well beyond the stage.

What You'll Do
- Design and lead engaging performing arts programming — dance, music, acting, art, theatre — that sparks creativity and personal growth
- Be a consistent, positive role model: reliable, respectful, and genuinely invested in the boys you work with
- Get to know each mentee individually and adapt your approach to support their emotional, social, and educational growth
- Lead group activities that build teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Track mentee progress through regular check-ins, and adjust your support as needed
- Create a space where every kid feels safe, included, and respected
- Keep parents, teachers, and staff in the loop on how mentees are doing
- Grow your own skills through ongoing professional development in youth mentoring
What You Bring
- Experience in dance, acting, music, art, or theatre (formal or informal — passion counts)
- Experience working with children or adolescents (childcare, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with kids quickly
- Comfort navigating conflict and helping young people work through disagreements
- A plus: experience working with individuals with disabilities
