Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Nights position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.

Job Details

• Work in the ICU of a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 222 staffed beds,
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15),
• Patient ratio of 1:2,
• Weekend requirement of 3 out of every 6 weeks,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Floating required within scope to IMCU and ICU units,
• Uses EPIC charting system,

Job Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• EPIC charting experience required,
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and medication management,
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and genitourinary/renal care required,
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun required,
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiovascular care,
• Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) required,
• Experience with post cardiac surgery patients (directly from OR) required; experience with patients not directly from OR preferred,
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience preferred,
• Open heart surgery experience preferred,
• Ability to assist with line insertion and intubation required,

Additional Information

• Navy scrub color required,
• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including hypothermia protocol management and hemodynamic monitoring,
• Assist with line insertion and intubation procedures as needed,
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position,
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates within this radius are not accepted,
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment,
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler,
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service,
• No accommodation for block scheduling
