The Banquet Houseperson position plays a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. As Banquet Houseperson, this role is accountable to the setup, takedown and overall cleanliness of the banquets space. Must be able to multi-task and be able to think and act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure.

Schedule : We are currently seeking part-time availability as needed for banquets & events.

Essential Functions

• Maintains cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, hallways, restrooms, storage and service areas. Sets up for events, carries trays, serves guests, and cleans up at the event's conclusion.
• Set up includes: putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement, and putting up a buffet.
• Clean up includes: breaking down tables and taking tablecloths and linens to laundry.
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs.

• Inspects linen, silver, china, and other items prior to using them.
• During events, duties include assisting servers and bartenders, transporting tables and equipment, reporting maintenance issues to management, and providing requested information to banquet patrons.
• Assembles temporary dance floors, podiums and other structures.
• Upsells venue services and amenities to guests.
• Assists audio-visual (A/V) set up of equipment, such as speakers and monitors.
• In some cases, may also be tasked with helping transport food, beverages, decorations and equipment to an off-premises event location.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred.
• A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates.
• Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This job operates behind the bar and other close quarters in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs
• Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner
• Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively
• Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift

ADDITIONAL SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

• Must successfully meet criminal background screening requirements for position.

Pay: $16.37/hr
