Peña and Kahn, PLLC a long-standing firm amongst the Latino community is looking to add a seasoned immigration bilingual paralegal to our Queens office team. The ideal candidate must be able to speak, write and read Spanish.  You will work on a range of immigration cases including removal/deportation defense, appeals, federal court litigation, family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, waivers, asylums, and naturalization.  We are looking for someone who is client friendly and who demonstrates strong initiative, ability to handle diverse caseload, excellent writing and communication skills, superb attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask.

Responsibilities included but not limited to:

• Answering phone calls and responding to emails
• Communicating with clients, performing intakes, collecting evidence and other documentation;
• Completing USCIS applications including applications for adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, asylum, waivers, and employment-based visas;
• Providing clients with case updates;
• Assisting our attorney with file organization, case preparation including but not limited to, submissions to USCIS, US Department of State and Immigration Court;
• Corresponding with various government and law enforcement agencies; and
• Drafting affidavits, personal statements, written pleadings, evidence submissions, and motions for attorney review.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or higher
• 3+ years of working as a paralegal in a law firm or non-profit handling immigration matters;
• Strong administrative, organizational, communication and written skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office/Google Office Suite;
• Able to take initiative and be comfortable asking questions when necessary to complete tasks;
• Open to taking on new responsibilities and challenging tasks;
• Must be punctual, responsible and reliable;
• Speak, write and read Spanish

Starting salary is from $22.00 to $28.00 an hour depending on upon experience.  We also offer competitive benefits.
