Radiology Student Intern

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist. Properly identify and perform diagnostic radiographic services on patients with the maximum amount of care, evaluating the technical quality. Assume responsibility for an assigned area, ensuring all equipment and supplies are readily available for use. Demonstrate competency in the knowledge of the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to your job responsibilities. Adhere to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available, resulting in continuity of care. Maintain responsibility for your professional development through active participation in in‑services and continuing education programs. Provide educational information to patients regarding their examination. Be knowledgeable regarding patient condition, history, and appropriate background information pertinent to the proposed examination. Be accountable for the quality of digital images sent to PACS. Verify correct patient selection from the worklist and ensure accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS. Be responsible for the department’s success in achieving PressGaney goals. Provide every patient with education and a personalized business card. Send or give apology cards to all patients when expectations are not met. Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity and ensure proper release of information. Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety, and report as required. Demonstrate and model the Network’s Service Excellence Standards in interactions with all customers (internal and external). Show performance improvement in clinical care/outcomes, customer/service improvement, operational system/process, and safety. Demonstrate financial responsibility and accountability through effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures. Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. Demonstrate competency in assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Frequent use of fingers and hands to operate equipment and pull X‑ray folders and chart information. Walking or standing up to 8 hours per shift in 30‑minute increments. Pulling, pushing, and lifting patients up to 300pounds with assistance. Listing and moving objects of up to 30pounds. Frequent stooping, crouching, bending, and lifting arms above shoulder level. Normal hearing and vision appropriate for communication and visual tasks. EDUCATION Current student of an ARRT‑recognized radiography program. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Current clinical student in an ARRT‑recognized radiography program who has completed a variety of clinical competencies in Chest, Abdomen, and Extremity categories.
