About the Job Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Nutrition, the Team Sports Dietitian assists in planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of performance nutrition services for University of Minnesota intercollegiate student‑athletes, specifically men’s baseball, women’s hockey, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Responsibilities include individual medical nutrition therapy, team and departmental educational presentations, coordination of nutritional care, and addressing nutrition-related logistical challenges. Supervision Incumbents may have authority to recommend administrative actions (hire, transfer, suspension, promotion, discharge, assignment of work, reward, discipline). Those without supervisory authority may mentor or lead project teams, provide guidance, interview applicants, assign schedules, direct work, and evaluate colleagues. Job Duties 45% – Conduct individual counseling sessions with a diverse group of collegiate student‑athletes. Diagnose nutrition needs, develop individualized protocols, interpret medical and performance data, and collaborate with athletic medicine, performance, and sport psychology to determine outcomes. 20% – Manage day‑to‑day operations of women’s hockey and swimming & diving fueling stations, including scheduling and oversight of interns and managers, approving orders, managing inventory, and ensuring product compliance with NCAA regulations. 15% – Forecast, develop, and track the team’s nutrition budget ($11k). Oversee menu development and relationships with catering, vendors, and hotel staff for contests. Manage the Red Card program for compliance and understanding. 10% – Generate, develop, and deliver educational materials and presentations to student‑athletes and support staff; determine educational needs and assess outcomes. 5% – Collaborate with the Assistant Director on hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating interns and managers at all educational levels to support student‑athlete services. 5% – Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director, including knowledge of NCAA rules related to student‑athlete health and safety, support of the department’s strategic plan and equity and diversity commitments, and forward‑thinking contributions to evolving collegiate athletics. Qualifications BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (minimum four years). Credentialed Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice licensure (or eligibility upon hire). Division I sports nutrition experience with hockey and/or swimming and diving (Preferred). Working toward or already acquired CSSD (Preferred). Knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten, and University rules, policies, and procedures (Preferred). Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $50,000 – $51,000 per year, depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
