About the Opportunity

A leading electrical services and construction organization is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth across commercial and industrial markets throughout the Carolinas and Southern Virginia.

This senior leadership role is responsible for developing new customer relationships, expanding existing accounts, negotiating service agreements, and creating long-term recurring revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring extensive electrical industry experience and a proven track record of driving revenue growth through strategic business development and account management.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

• Develop and execute business development strategies that drive profitable revenue growth.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial and industrial customers.
• Build strong relationships with facility managers, property managers, plant managers, contractors, and executive decision-makers.
• Expand service opportunities within existing customer accounts.
• Generate and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and strategic opportunities.
• Represent the organization at customer meetings, networking events, and industry functions.

Account Management & Contract Development

• Lead negotiations for service agreements, maintenance contracts, and strategic partnerships.
• Develop long-term customer relationships that generate recurring service revenue.
• Increase account penetration by identifying additional service and project opportunities.
• Support customer retention initiatives and strengthen existing partnerships.
• Collaborate with operational leadership to ensure successful execution and customer satisfaction.

Strategic Leadership

• Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs.
• Develop strategies to expand market share within targeted territories.
• Track sales performance, pipeline activity, and business development metrics.
• Provide regular updates and forecasts to executive leadership.
• Support profitable growth initiatives while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience within the electrical contracting, electrical construction, or electrical services industry.
• 5+ years of experience in a Director-level or senior business development leadership role.
• Proven experience developing and growing commercial and industrial customer relationships.
• Demonstrated success generating revenue through electrical service, maintenance, repair, retrofit, and project-based solutions.
• Experience negotiating service agreements, maintenance contracts, and long-term customer partnerships.
• Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, institutional, and facility-related electrical services.
• Proven ability to drive new business while expanding existing accounts.
• Strong financial acumen with experience evaluating revenue growth, profitability, and account performance.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Southern Virginia.
