Procurement Supervisor
$130k - $160kMP Materials Corp.
Full Time Management Mountain Pass, CA, US Salary Range: $130,000.00 To $160,000.00 Annually Company Overview: MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification. We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control. We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation. Position Overview: The Procurement Supervisor provides full operational ownership of Procure-to Pay (P2P) cycle, local sourcing, and supervises a dedicated team of six. The supervisor establishes clear operational ownership across both daily plant purchasing and large capital expansion projects — assisting operations, maintenance, and engineering departments in debottlenecking procurement workflows. By driving total lifecycle cost analysis, enforcing flow-down contract provisions, and managing the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle, this position ensures commercial expectations, quality standards, sustainability goals, and delivery timelines are met to support scalable, incident-free operations. Position Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Operational Ownership: supervise, coach, and evaluate a team of buyers. Establish and oversee daily priorities, assign category/project workloads, and enforce team discipline and execution. Supplier Management & Cost Reduction: engage with key suppliers to build strong relationships while negotiating favorable commercial terms, pricing, and delivery schedules. Conduct cost-benefit analyses to drive measurable, documented cost savings without compromising quality or compliance. Procure-to-Pay (P2P) & SAP Discipline: deliver accurate SAP / ERP system transactions to maintain procurement data integrity and streamline the P2P cycle. Enforce same-day PO creation and expediting standards to eliminate backlogs; coordinate cross functionally to troubleshoot discrepancies. Continuous Improvement & Change Leadership: serve as a Change Champion leveraging procurement technology tools and data analytics to optimize supply chain efficiency, manage KPIs, and enhance decision-making. Act as a supportive and inspirational leader who can work independently with a high sense of urgency in a hands-on, active industrial team environment ("boots on the ground" engagement). Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, logistics, or related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive commercial purchasing, project procurement, or supply chain experience in an industrial, mining, refining, or petrochemical processing environment. Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing purchasing specialists, buyers, or expeditors (managing teams of 3+ required; 5+ preferred). Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP experience required) and advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated expertise in Procure-to-Pay (P2P) principles, commercial contract terms, total life cycle cost analysis, and industrial safety/governance standards. Preferred Education / Certification: Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Supply Chain Management. CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or equivalent. Desired Qualities: Change Champion & Leader: Has the courage and expertise to lead change, stimulating new thinking in a positive, collaborative fashion with an overall value-add business perspective. Execution & Velocity: Passion for problem-solving and delivering results in a fast-paced environment; able to deal with ambiguity and act independently with confidence and speed. Data Analytics & Cost Management: Expertise in analyzing procurement costs, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and tracking key performance indicators via SAP and Excel to make data-driven decisions. Cross-Functional Collaborator: High personal integrity and exceptional customer service orientation, building strong alignment across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Capital Projects, Legal, and external partners. The expected pay range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or education.
