Position Summary

The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production schedules to support required ship dates, stock requirements, material availability, machine capacity, and production priorities. This position coordinates closely with Production, Purchasing/Raw Materials, Quality, Warehouse, and other internal departments to ensure work orders, materials, setup information, and production documentation are available when needed. The role requires strong analytical and mathematical skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to quickly adjust schedules as production conditions and priorities change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•   Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on required ship dates, stock requirements, manufacturing cycle times, machine capacity, material availability, and production priorities.

•   Create and enter production work orders accurately and timely based on production requirements.

•   Review open work orders and monitor production progress against the established schedule.

•   Update work order schedules at least weekly and adjust schedules based on machine performance, material availability, production delays, priority changes, rejected material/parts, or other operational needs.

•   Communicate schedule changes promptly to affected internal departments, including changes to quantities, material type or size, machine assignment, priority, and scheduled production dates.

•   Coordinate with Production and Raw Materials/Purchasing to identify material requirements and potential shortages that could affect the production schedule.

•   Schedule raw material slitting to support press and production requirements, including preparing and issuing accurate slitting instructions and related documentation.

•   Monitor master coil and applicable raw material availability as it relates to scheduled production needs.

•   Pull, review, and verify setup sheets associated with issued work orders to ensure correct setup information is provided to Production.

•   Prepare and distribute work orders, setup sheets, prints/drawings, slitting instructions, and other required production paperwork to the appropriate departments or machine operators.

•   Process and maintain new or revised part information, setup sheets, drawings, and production-related data in the appropriate systems.

•   Enter production setup times and other required scheduling or production data.

•   Enter daily productivity information, including completed quantities and production results, to maintain accurate production records and schedule status.

•   Monitor machine and production performance against plan and identify schedule risks, capacity constraints, or delays that may impact production requirements.

•   Initiate rescheduling when production plans, priorities, material availability, machine availability, or other conditions change.

•   Escalate significant scheduling conflicts, material shortages, capacity issues, or production delays to management in a timely manner.

•   Track rejected parts or material affecting scheduled work to help ensure timely disposition and appropriate rescheduling.

•   Maintain accurate scheduling, production, and work order records and complete repetitive calculations and data entry with a high degree of accuracy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

•   Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to work with quantities, production rates, lead times, inventory levels, and scheduling calculations.

•   Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams; must be comfortable working with spreadsheets, entering and organizing data, and communicating electronically.

•   Proficient 10-key/data-entry skills with strong speed and accuracy.

•   Professional phone presence and clear verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with vendors and internal departments.

•   Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

•   Ability to work under pressure and make timely scheduling adjustments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

•   Exceptional attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies in work orders, quantities, materials, dates, and production information.

•   Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.

•   Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform frequent computer and data-entry work.

•   High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Experience

•   Previous production scheduling, production planning, manufacturing, inventory control, or related experience.

•   Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP Business One experience is a plus.

•   Knowledge of bills of material, routings, manufacturing cycle times, production capacity, and inventory control systems.

•   Ability to read basic part drawings or CAD drawings is a plus.

•   Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 manufacturing quality systems is a plus.
