SALARY RANGE: BU13 | SR20 SALARY RATE: $65.00 (Hourly) based on the FTE JOB DUTIES: The Occupational Therapy (OT) program provides services to the acute-care, skilled nursing, and long-term care patients, treating patients individually or in groups with psychosocial and physical dysfunction. Implements and carries out medically prescribed activities to restore bodily function to the maximum level of competence, and psychosocial and constructive activities to help the patient adapt to the social demands of living.
The primary function of this position is to provide occupational therapy services at both KCH and KOH. This position will also coordinate the daily operations of the Occupational Therapy unit in accordance with established facility and unit policies and procedures, Medicare, Medicaid, American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), OSHA, the Hawaii Revised Statutes, union contracts, and JCAHO standards. This position may be required to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays. This role requires flexibility and frequent travel. Must be adaptable to last-minute changes, including covering sick calls, adjusting to urgent patient needs, and conducting new patient evaluations as required, sometimes with little notice. THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. Other information: CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIRED: 1. Applicants must have passed the Occupational Therapist national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); and 2. Licensed with the State of Hawaii as an Occupational Therapist (OT) at the time of appointment. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have progressively responsible work experience described below:
• OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year Occupational Therapy experience required. Acute hospital experience is preferred LICENSE REQUIRED: For certain positions, applicants may be required to possess a valid State of Hawaii driver's license, Type 3. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• KNOWLEDGE OF: Functional anatomy, kinesiology, neuroanatomy, physiology, neurophysiology, abnormal and educational psychology and related sciences; basic principles, practices and philosophy of occupational therapy; occupational therapy evaluation and testing procedures; current treatment techniques including use and modifications of appropriate therapy equipment and appliances; and methods of instructing clients; and available occupational therapy resources in the community.
• ABILITY TO: Independently apply principles, methods and techniques of occupational therapy; instruct clients and others in the application of the occupational therapy process; and supervise subprofessional occupational therapy personnel.
