Veterinary Technician - Emergency

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our team in the Emergency and ICU department at our Skokie, IL location. Pay Range $23.20 - $43.70 per hour. This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Competitive Shift Differentials Weekday Night (Mon‑Fri 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.): $4.00 Weekend Day (Sat‑Sun 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.): $4.00 Weekend Night (Sat‑Sun 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.): $5.50 BluePearl Pet Hospital offers a fast‑paced opportunity for Veterinary Technicians to utilize and grow their skills while working alongside talented professionals. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Accurately calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations. Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Mentor and train other co‑workers.
