Survey Technician

Survey Field TechnicianWe are currently seeking a full-time Survey Field Technician in our Kansas City office. Our survey department is vital to assisting engineers on a wide array of civil, development, municipal and environmental projects. This position is predominantly a field position with opportunities for in-office work and development to a qualified candidate. This position is a support position to our existing PLS and Crew Chief with opportunities for advancement.V&K BENEFITSBenefits available 30 days following date of employment, includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Short and Long Term Disability, plus additional supplemental insurancesClothing allowance401k with company matchPaid Time Off and 9 paid holidaysPaid training and development on and off-siteMain Duties and Responsibilities:Follow instructions on specific assignments, objectives and complex workflowsPerform a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects as directed by PLS or OMPerforms topographic, boundary, and construction surveys as directed by PLS or OMReview, download, and process field dataPrepare field notes and maintain recordsPerform other like duties as assigned by PLS or OMCommunicate with Contractors and the Iowa One Call SystemManhole and Utility inspectionsRequirements:Associate degree preferred but not required.Knowledge of survey calculations, techniques, and proceduresValid driver's license3+ years of experience in land surveying is preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated and able to follow directionsProfessional Development:Training to be provided by veteran field staff for best surveying practices, expectations, and equipment usageTutelage to be provided from Missouri PLS to aid in the development of candidate and Missouri licensure process if desiredCivil3D training to be provided to candidate by in-house staffPhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. The ability to use a shovel, axe, hammer, pick, machete and other hand tools used to complete survey projects. The field crew will work year around outside in all kinds of weather.
