AMT Certified Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

Overview: Join a compassionate healthcare team supporting OB/GYN physicians by managing both clinical and administrative tasks. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards in a busy outpatient setting. Key Responsibilities:
This position serves a diverse patient population in a regional healthcare environment within the Southeastern United States, offering a supportive and collaborative workplace culture focused on patient-centered care and professional growth.
- Support physicians and licensed medical staff by obtaining patient vital signs and updating charts.
- Collect and process lab and pathology samples following established protocols.
- Perform quality and safety checks on testing equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient education under provider guidance.
- Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as directed.
- Assist providers during procedures and examinations.
- Prepare and handle reusable instruments for sterilization.
- Dispose of biohazard and pharmaceutical waste according to OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment following infection prevention standards.
- Manage front desk duties including greeting patients and scheduling appointments.
- Assist with coding and billing processes, coordinating with insurance and healthcare partners.
- Monitor electronic communications and respond promptly.
- Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
- Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
- Perform high-level disinfection procedures and float to other clinics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with national certification (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations promptly.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers.
- Physical ability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Comfortable handling potentially infectious materials with appropriate precautions.
