Supervisor - R&D Mechanical Prototype Lab

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Supervisor for the R&D Mechanical Prototype Lab in Marietta, Ohio. This on-site role oversees daily operations of mechanical technicians supporting rapid prototyping, engineering builds, and product testing for cold storage and laboratory equipment. The supervisor will coordinate people, materials, and activities while maintaining safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate mechanical technicians on prototype fabrication and engineering builds
• Maintain safe, organized laboratory environment using 5S and standard work practices
• Perform hands-on mechanical assembly, refrigeration diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Partner with R&D engineers to execute prototypes accurately and efficiently
• Apply Lean principles to improve laboratory workflow and equipment utilization

Requirements

• Hands-on mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of HVAC/R, refrigeration, and electromechanical systems
• Supervisory or team leadership experience
• Familiarity with instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, data loggers)
• Ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance
• Working knowledge of GMP safety standards and laboratory practices
