Job Description

This role focuses on welding and fabricating components for fire trucks, including both individual parts and direct work on vehicle bodies. You will primarily perform MIG welding on mild to medium steel and some TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel, contributing to the structural integrity and safety of specialized emergency vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on mild to medium steel components used in fire truck construction.
• Carry out TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel parts such as stairs, ladders, and other structural elements.
• Weld and assemble individual pieces that will be installed on fire trucks, ensuring precise fit and alignment.
• Weld directly onto fire truck bodies, including structural and cosmetic components, following engineering specifications and drawings when provided.
• Assist with fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and preparing metal parts prior to welding.
• Inspect welds for quality, strength, and appearance, and make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet internal standards.
• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment while performing hot work in a fabrication and production environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain consistent workflow during the day shift.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, welding equipment, and materials.
• Participate in overtime work on Fridays as needed, supporting departments that require additional production time.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of hands-on welding experience.
• Proficiency with MIG welding on mild to medium steel.
• Basic experience or familiarity with TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel.
• Ability to perform fabrication tasks such as measuring, cutting, and fitting metal parts.
• Capability to work safely in a hot work environment and follow established safety protocols.
• Reliability to work a 4-day day shift schedule and support overtime on Fridays when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Open to entry-level candidates with at least 6 months of welding experience as well as experienced welders.
• Comfort working on large, specialized vehicles and structural components.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fabrications.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to different welding tasks and materials.

Work Environment

The role is based in a medium to smaller-sized local facility that is part of a larger national organization specializing in the production of fire trucks. The work is performed on a day shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with optional and occasionally mandatory overtime on Fridays in some departments. The environment involves hot work, including welding and fabrication on vehicle bodies and components, with standard industrial safety practices and protective gear. The setting is a production floor where employees work with welding equipment, metal fabrication tools, and large vehicle assemblies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Snyder, NE.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $54080.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
