The Associate assists counseling staff in providing direct and indirect services to a specified group and/or population of patients, facilitating a safe and therapeutic milieu and encouraging patients to engage in their own treatment and recovery experience. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide information, including formal and informal orientation, to patients or family members regarding clinical programs and services. Create a welcoming, safe and healing environment for each patient and family throughout the continuum of care. Assist counseling staff with assessment, both initial and ongoing, by data collection and direct observation within the therapeutic milieu. Assist in performing luggage and personal property searches. Provide addiction and recovery‑related psycho‑education to individuals, groups, and families as assigned; facilitate and coordinate community groups and 12‑Step meetings. Transport patients to 12‑Step meetings and/or other therapeutic recreation activities as assigned. Assist Activities Services staff with recreation, art, music, and adventure‑based therapies as assigned. Manage the patient community as a therapeutic milieu, holding patients and families accountable for behavior consistent with community guidelines and recovery. Intervene in clinical and community crises with a therapeutic approach. Assist in de‑escalation and crisis management, including performing CPR and first aid as needed. Participate in team meetings, treatment plan reviews, staff meetings, and quality management teams as assigned. Document pertinent clinical information in the electronic patient record. Assist in providing transportation for admitting and existing patients. Recommend ways to improve the quality and delivery of services. Ensure proper handling and distribution of company funds. Maintain confidentiality of company and patient information. React productively to change. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred. One year experience in addiction treatment preferred. CPRS certification preferred but not required. Valid Tennessee driver’s license preferred (may use company van to transport patients). Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to quickly learn and use various clinical software. Strong problem‑solving, analytical and interpretive skills. Adaptability to changing circumstances and patient needs in a fast‑paced environment. Decisiveness in complex situations, knowing when to consult. Cultural sensitivity and openness to a wide variety of patient experiences. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Collaborative and courteous interaction with patients and co‑workers. Ability to model/teach the 12‑Step programs and philosophy. De‑escalation skills in crisis situations; calm, professional demeanor. Presentation skills for hostile or disinterested groups. Requirement of 18 months of verifiable abstinence if recovering; active participation in a twelve‑step program preferred. Work Environment Campus setting requiring walking outside to various buildings and normal safety precautions. Frequent contact with people in crisis, including emotionally volatile individuals requiring additional safety precautions. CPR/first‑aid certification required; ability to perform in emergencies. Variable shifts, including weekends and overnight shifts for inclement weather; occasional travel to other Cumberland Heights facilities. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and push/pull up to 40 lbs on uneven, rural terrain. Full range of fine and gross motor skills required. #J-18808-Ljbffr Cumberland Heights
