Pharmacy TechnicianSalary Range $18.00 - $23.00 Hourly Position Type Full TimeDescriptionNEW PHARMACY LOCATION OPENING8:30am-5:00pmAssist pharmacists in all operations of the pharmacy including processing, sale, and delivery of prescription medications, maintenance of patient pharmacy records, and drug inventory and supply ordering and maintenance. Pharmacy technicians will not perform any duties that can legally be performed only by a pharmacist. All pharmacy technicians will work under the supervision of a pharmacist.Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:(The following description is a general representation of the key duties and responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned, as required.)Work cooperatively with clinic and pharmacy staffHandle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work scheduleSet priorities and solve problemsRespond quickly to patient needsCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingAssist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organizationProcures and distributes medication orders per patient request, pharmacist request, provider request, or prearranged work assignment with a 95% accuracy rate according to established policies, procedures, and protocols Perform data entry, process insurance claims, and fill prescriptions accurately and in a timely and efficient mannerCorrectly count, pour, measure, package, and label medications when filling prescriptionsAccurately and efficiently enters patient information to maintain patient records.Completes sales of prescriptions maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locationsRotate stock to ensure use before expiration dateIdentify and return any outdated and unusable medicationsRestock medications accurately within specified time periodsContribute to the effective operation of the department Enters prescription information into pharmacy computer system accuratelyCompletes prescription sales transactionsOrganizes and prioritizes work assignmentsKeeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well-organized; keeps pharmacy equipment clean and reports any malfunctions to direct supervisorMaintains patient, prescription, and other required documentation accurately and documents in appropriate locationsAnswers the telephone, identifying self and department and answer patient request and directs calls to appropriate personnelProvides high quality customer service and answer pharmacy related inquiries in person and on the phone in a timely and efficient mannerParticipates in the quality improvement activities of the department Report any prescription errors or any other discrepancies to the pharmacist on duty according to current policies and proceduresAssists in shipment or delivery of medication order processes when necessaryWill act as a back-up driver for the delivery of prescription medications utilizing the NFP vehicle when neededMaintains patient rights and confidentiality at all times.Completes all required continuing education needed to maintain technician license in good standing.Must have an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the population served.Completes other tasks as assigned by Director of Pharmacy or supervising pharmacist.QualificationsQualifications:Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)Must be at least 18 years of age or older.High school diploma, GED or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.Must be registered as either a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Pharmacy Board.Computer experience sufficient to perform data entry functions.Must be able to meet credentialing requirements and successfully complete credentialing process.Current BLS certification required.Current valid driver's license. NFP will perform a Ohio MVR annually for insurance purposesDemonstrated interpersonal skills: empathy, trust, respect and ability to establish effective relationships with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.Applies critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.Displays team membership skills.Demonstrated attention to detail.Preferred: Outpatient/retail pharmacy experience, certified pharmacy technicianEssential Physical Demands and Working Environment:Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.Demonstrated ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
