Assistant Store Manager – Bass Pro Shops Sayreville, NJ We are looking for a Full‑Time Assistant Store Manager to join Tecovas’s shop‑in‑shop location at Bass Pro Shops in Sayreville, NJ. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in developing a high‑performing team, owning an area of responsibility, and delivering an exceptional in‑store experience day in and day out. Responsibilities Build genuine customer connections and act as a brand ambassador Maintain active floor presence, managing multiple customer interactions simultaneously Deliver high‑quality product services (branding, debossing, boot stretching, brim shaping, boot shines) Lead professional and gracious resolutions for customer returns, exchanges, or warranty inquiries Leverage OMNI Channel tools and processes to better serve the customer Set the tone and energy for the day, building team morale and a people‑first culture Support the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent Own an assigned area of responsibility (AOR) and drive accountability within it Foster strong communication and teamwork across operational, visual, and customer priorities Provide real‑time feedback, coaching, and training; escalates issues as needed Deliver in‑person onboarding training alongside e‑learning for all new hires Ensure timely completion of training paths and compliance with established policies Facilitate ongoing training for new products, services, and initiatives Work closely with store leadership and HQ partners to facilitate and organize ongoing training in store locations Attend regular training meetings to ensure understanding of necessary information Execute visual directives on time and submit store photos with HQ feedback Partner with store leadership to uphold visual merchandising standards and complete replenishment Support store presentation through sell‑through and markdown cycles Oversee floor and window standards — lighting, cleanliness, displays, and props Execute store opening and closing procedures Monitor daily communications across email, Slack, and Zipline Set up daily tools (hitching posts, zone charts) and coordinate team break coverage Manage Amazon and supply orders; maintain an organized backroom Update the sales whiteboard weekly and speak confidently about store performance Ensure compliance with shipments, transfers, restock, and Loss Prevention standards Demonstrate flexibility across all functional areas — visual, operations, and beyond Qualifications 3+ years of retail management experience People‑first mentality with a positive attitude and ability to build team morale Ability to handle difficult situations with grace and professionalism Strong merchant skills and a history of delivering financial results Proven record of hiring, developing, and retaining talent Comfortable speaking to store performance metrics and driving business conversations Experience in coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution Flexible, cross‑functional, proactive, and results‑driven Utmost character, honesty, and transparency Requirements High School Diploma required (College Degree preferred) Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs; bend, squat, and kneel as needed Must be available 40 hours per week including weekends, evenings, and holidays Must be able to reliably commute to the work location Benefits Competitive salary ($25/hr, adjusted based on skills, qualifications, and experience) Health insurance covered at 79–90%; dental & vision at 100% for family/dependents Free boots Generous employee discounts We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and we encourage all qualified individuals to apply!
